Journal, Cavanaugh, servant of Abadar.
Entry 1My journey to Oleg’s trading post is finally at an end, although it appears the work is just beginning. Khadram and I have just meet a few of our fellow explorers; namely the roguish Jaeryn and the mighty Junior. I am ill at ease with some of the behaviors I have witnessed in these two, but as Abadar commands, I shall keep an open mind. Within moments of entering the trading post, I was made aware of the tragic story of Oleg and his wife, Svetlana. These two hardy pioneers have been pressured mercilessly by local brigands; they are apparently due in the morning, and I plan to show them the error of their ways.
Entry 2The day has not gone as planned, although I feel the results are the same as they would have been. Upon becoming caught within the confines of the post, the brigands elected to engage sword over wit, a choice they have come to regret. Junior and I each ended the lives of 2 bandits in combat, successfully carrying out the same sentence that awaits all bandits; and cessation of life by end of rope or tip of sword. Two of the dunces elected to surrender. They were lead off by Junior and Jaeryn, both of whom returned alone with additional information. A camp lies a few days travel from here; we set off in the morning.
Entry 3After several days of uneventful travel, we arrived at the camp. Thinking these men all to be cut of a cowardly cloth, I generously offered them the chance to surrender. My goodwill was met with curses and and arrow to my shoulder. Carl and I engaged in pursuit, as Jaeryn let loose arrows to the trees. Khadram too engaged in tactical spellcraft, and soon we had leveled all foes. The camps leader, a cross woman by the name of Kressle, survived the conflict. I am not sure why, but Abadar has granted me mercy to extend to this woman. While I have a good idea of the horrors this woman has committed, I believe this to be largely an issue of nurture vs nature, and aim to see her rehabilitated. She has reluctantly agreed, as the alternative is death at the end of my divine blade.
Entry 4We have returned to the trading post. Junior and Jaeryn have retired to unknown locations. Khadram, Kressle and I have elected to fulfill our charter and explore the lands surrounding the trading post. We stumbled upon a local alchemist, did battle with a large trapdoor spider, slew a gaggle of kobolds to recover moon radishes, and took down a monstrous and legendary boar for a local hunter. The life of an adventuring is exciting, an I look forward to what else might come in the future. I hope that I can turn Kressle, and that our group might be able to bring order to this lawless land. Our next target seems to be the Stag Lord; I look forward to relieving this area of his tyrannical rule.
